A non-governmental organization, HACEY Health Initiative has commended the Osun State House of Assembly for passing into law the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Bill 2021, saying when it becomes law, the document would promote healthy living among the residents.
The NGO in a statement by its Executive Director, Rhoda Robinson, recalled that during an advocacy visit to the Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye, it demanded quick passage of the VAPP Bill.
Robinson said with diligent implementation, provisions of the bill would address the issue of domestic violence and guarantee better healthy living for the residents, among others.
The group then called on the governor, Adegboyega Oyetola to sign the bill and ensure careful implementation in the interest of the general wellbeing of the residents.
The statement reads in part, “During our advocacy visit to the Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, he assured us that the bill would be passed.
“We commend the lawmakers for fulfilling that promise and we are hopeful the governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, will sign the bill into law as soon as possible. It is a document that can guarantee better healthy living for the residents.
