Hello, welcome to March! We reflect on February, celebrate the present, and pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future.
The month of February kicked off with our HIV testing at the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon 2024, themed “Find Your Feat.” As part of this incredible event, Hacey in partnership with Access Bank launched a special “know your status” campaign on HIV. From February 1st to 10th, we offered free HIV testing to all participants. We strongly believe in promoting health and well-being, and the campaign aims to raise awareness about HIV, encourage testing, and promote a healthier society.
In commemoration of the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), we stand united in the fight to end this harmful practice. Our #StopCut project remains committed to eradicating harmful traditional practices like FGM, ensuring that every girl deserves a childhood free from physical and emotional scars.
Additionally, we observed International Condom Day, emphasizing the importance of safe sex practices. As we navigate through the Valentine’s season, we urge everyone to prioritize their sexual health and take proactive measures to prevent unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections.
In our commitment to empowering girls, our first Safe Space session of the year took place in Mowe, Ogun state community. Girls engaged in open discussions about body awareness, menstrual management, and leadership skills, fostering self-discovery and goal-setting.
In a world where relationships often take center stage, it’s crucial to empower girls with the understanding that love transcends beyond romantic connections, encouraging them to embrace love in its various forms. We hosted our first Safe Space for the year. our commitment to empowering girls extends to cultivating a profound understanding of love and recognizing the strength in the diverse tapestry of love, friendships, family ties and self-love. We believe in cultivating resilience and emotional intelligence, because in every form, love becomes a powerful force shaping resilient, compassionate, and confident individuals.
Our team actively participated in the National Reproductive Health Technical Working Group meeting, contributing to the review of Nigeria’s Health Sector Renewal Initiative to strengthen reproductive health interventions nationwide.
We had our monthly internal knowledge sharing meeting. we explored the dynamics of technology and its profound impact on education. Bisola Soteju, our program intern took the team on “The Future Of Education Technology” where innovation and digital advancement redefine the landscape of learning, reshaping how we teach and learn. The session also delved into strategies for enhancing visibility in the workplace, as Bisayo Akiboye our programs officer, facilitated on improving how one is seen and recognized in the professional environment, which is a critical aspect of career growth.
Join us for our upcoming event focused on tackling Gender-Based Violence (GBV) through innovative financing mechanisms, exploring models like gender-responsive budgeting and social impact investing. Dive into insightful discussions with experts from government agencies, donor organizations, civil society groups, and the private sector, as we advocate for increased funding and mobilize resources to address GBV effectively. Together, let’s pave the way towards a brighter future by combating GBV and advancing gender equality.
We’re now accepting applications from NGOs, CSOs, and dedicated individuals committed to advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). The Fellowship will expose individuals, CSOs, and NGOs to a dynamic platform with experts to engage, educate, and empower young people in SRHR interventions using innovative strategies and digital approaches. From understanding social media and content creation to developing effective media advocacy strategies. By harnessing the potential of digital platforms, individuals, CSOs, and NGOs can advocate for positive change and promote the rights and well-being of young people worldwide.
