Esther found herself deeply disturbed by the challenges she encountered regarding her sexual desires. She was faced with confusion, and feeling overwhelmed by the transition she was undergoing.
However, she was not alone in her struggle. Across the globe, thousands of young people faced similar uncertainties and longed for a way out of their predicament. Unfortunately, the lack of youth-friendly centers where they could voice their concerns without fear of judgment only compounded their distress.
Expressing her frustrations, Esther admitted, “I often feel ashamed to discuss my sexual concerns with health professionals, particularly when I visit clinics. I fear being branded as immoral and condemned.”
We organized a workshop and training sessions about sexual health. Esther, along with over 2000 others from different locations in Nigeria, attended the session, soaking up the clear, inclusive information about sexual health.
During these gatherings, we provided comprehensive, sexually inclusive information and launched a website called TOMBEY, dedicated to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). Through TOMBEY, Esther discovered a safe space where she could read about others’ experiences, share her own concerns, and find solace without fear of judgment.
“I feel empowered to openly discuss my concerns on the TOMBEY website and guide other young people to seek support.” Esther proudly declares.
With the support of individuals like you, TOMBEY provides invaluable access to sexual and reproductive health information for young people and adolescents. Your aid today, can help transform even more lives and we hope you will join us in this movement.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of countless young individuals like Esther.
